India's Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday following massive youth-led protests demanding his dismissal over a series of exam paper leaks, including a medical entrance test that forced over two million candidates to retake the exam. In a post on X, Pradhan said he sent his resignation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing the situation at Jantar Mantar protest site and across the country, warning that anti-national forces could exploit the unrest. He added that he deeply respects the aspirations and expectations of the country's youth.

The announcement sparked cheers among thousands of protesters rallying in Delhi and elsewhere. Police fired tear gas and restricted internet access and 18 metro stations to contain the demonstrations, which had escalated after police on Monday launched baton charges and fired tear gas on students marching to parliament, injuring many. The protests, driven by anger over exam fraud, job scarcity, corruption, and government accountability, mark a significant victory for the youth movement.
