Privacy Policy

ZayNews operates the website https://zaynews.com, the API at https://api.zaynews.com, and the mobile applications published under the package / bundle ID com.zaynews.app (where available).

Support and privacy inquiries: use the Feedback form at https://zaynews.com/en/feedback/ (also linked from Settings). We do not sell personal information.

This policy covers the web app, Android and iOS apps, optional browser or device push notifications, and related backend services used to deliver news briefs and preferences.

News briefs are source-attributed editorial summaries published by ZayNews. That content is not your personal data.

Device preference identifier: a random ID stored on your device (and sent to our API when preferences sync) so we can remember topics, countries, and optional push delivery. It is not your name, email, or phone number.

Preferences you choose: UI language, topic interests, followed countries, theme and reading preferences (font size / family). Theme and reading choices stay on the device; language, topics, and countries may be synced to our servers so the feed and notifications match your choices.

Optional push token: if you enable notifications, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token for that browser or device so we can send alerts for topics or countries you follow. You can deny or revoke permission in system / browser settings.

Optional approximate location (web and mobile): if you explicitly allow location, the app may read a coarse (city/region-level) position once. Coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud only to determine a country; ZayNews receives and stores only the ISO country code. When you have not selected a topic, country, or publisher filter, that country can prioritize local feed stories and optional notifications; your explicit choices always win. We do not continuously track you, and you can deny or revoke permission in browser or system settings.

Optional analytics: on the website, cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics and privacy-oriented Vercel Analytics may measure aggregate page traffic without a consent banner; Google Analytics 4 (with richer events such as time on page and UI clicks) runs only after you accept the cookie/consent banner. On mobile, Firebase Analytics may record anonymous app usage events (for example screen views and read completion) after Firebase is initialized — not for selling personal data or building advertising profiles of you as a person.

Technical logs: our servers may process standard request metadata (for example approximate time, IP address used to reach the API, and user-agent) as part of operating a secure service. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.

We do not require you to create an account. We do not ask for payment card data in the free news experience described here.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not require precise GPS location to show the news feed or enable notifications. Any optional location read is approximate and one-time; coordinates are used by the reverse-geocoding provider only to return a country code, and are not continuously tracked.

We do not scrape your contacts, photos, or microphone for the core news experience.

To show news briefs and keep the feed fresh.

To apply your topic and country preferences on web and mobile.

To send optional push notifications you opted into.

To use an optionally detected country for local feed and notification relevance when you have not selected an explicit topic, country, or publisher filter.

To understand aggregate product usage (cookieless Cloudflare / Vercel web traffic; consent-gated GA4 on web; Firebase Analytics on mobile) so we can keep the service reliable.

To maintain security, prevent abuse, and keep the service reliable.

To comply with law when we are legally required to do so.

Depending on your location, we rely on one or more of: your consent (for example notification permission); performance of a service you request (delivering the news product and remembering preferences); and legitimate interests in running a secure, efficient news service that does not depend on selling personal data.

In Türkiye, processing related to optional notifications and preference sync is based on your explicit choices; you may withdraw consent by disabling notifications and clearing preferences / uninstalling the app.

Hosting: web static hosting for zaynews.com and application hosting for the API (infrastructure providers that process data only to run the service).

Push: Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (and Apple Push Notification service on iOS when configured) to deliver notification messages you requested. Optional location country hints may be used to select relevant notifications when no explicit filter is set.

Reverse geocoding: BigDataCloud may receive the coordinates you explicitly submit in the browser or app to return a country code. ZayNews does not send the coordinates to its own API or store them.

Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics and Vercel Analytics for aggregate website traffic; Google Analytics 4 on the website (after consent) for richer product events; Firebase Analytics in the mobile apps for aggregate usage metrics.

Exchange rates: public FX data providers used to display market rates in the UI (not used to identify you).

Sponsored partner shelves: may open third-party websites when you tap a sponsor creative. Those sites have their own policies.

Advertising: the site may prepare for industry-standard ad networks in the future (for example Google). If ads are enabled, those partners may process device or cookie identifiers under their own policies; we will update this page if the practical data practices change.

We do not sell personal information to data brokers.

On-device preferences remain until you clear site data, reset the app, or uninstall.

Server-side device preference records and push tokens are kept while useful to provide the service and are removed or anonymized when no longer needed, or upon a valid deletion request where we can identify the device record.

Operational logs are retained only as long as needed for security and reliability.

We use HTTPS for the website and API. Access to production systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please use up-to-date browsers and devices.

You can change language, topics, countries, theme, and reading settings anytime in Settings / Preferences.

You can disable notifications in the browser or OS settings.

You can clear local site data or uninstall the mobile app to remove on-device identifiers and preferences.

Depending on your region (including GDPR and KVKK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights that require server-side action, use https://zaynews.com/en/feedback/ (category Privacy) and describe the device / platform you used so we can locate the preference record where possible.

ZayNews is a general-audience news service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that requires parental consent under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided data to us improperly, use the Feedback form on the website and we will take appropriate steps.

Our hosting and push providers may process data in more than one country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards and your choices (such as enabling notifications) for that processing.

We may update this Privacy Policy when the product or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
