Democracy is in the hands of the people, not in palaces, says Cármen Lúcia
Democracy is in our hands, it is not in the palaces, it is not in the offices, declared Cármen Lúcia, minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), during the launch event of her book For the hand of the people — Democracy and vote in Brazil (published by Bazar do Tempo), this Thursday (23), during the 24th International Literary Festival of Paraty. Co-authored with political scientist Heloisa Starling and organized by historian Nayara Henriques Pinto, the work covers the history of Brazilian democracy through elections, laws and voters, reflecting on the construction of citizenship and voting in the country.
