According to breaking news; BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul finished the day at 14,077.67 points, losing 0.43 percent of its value. While the BIST 100 index decreased by 61.18 points compared to the previous closing, the total transaction volume was 206.5 billion lira. The banking index lost 0.22 percent and the holding index lost 1.12 percent.
Among the sector indices, the biggest gainer was mining with 4.47 percent, while the biggest loser was communication with 5.35 percent. While global markets followed a negative course due to the balance sheets of major technology companies re-raising concerns about artificial intelligence expenditures, increasing geopolitical risks and rising oil prices, the BIST 100 index completed the day with a sell-off course parallel to the negative course in global markets. During the day, the barrel price of Brent oil rose above 100 dollars due to the risks to oil shipments in the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandap and concerns about attacks that could target the energy infrastructure in the Middle East.
Domestically, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee (PPK) kept the one-week repo auction interest rate, which is the policy rate, constant at 37 percent. CBRT's total reserves decreased by 2 billion 812 million dollars in the week of July 17 compared to the previous week and reached 160 billion 490 million dollars. Analysts stated that the financial services confidence index and sectoral inflation expectations will be followed in the country tomorrow, and the intensive data agenda will be followed abroad, especially the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) data around the world, and noted that technically, 14,000 and 13,900 points in the BIST 100 index are in a support position, and 14,200 and 14,300 points are in a resistance position.
