The state of Rio Grande do Sul was hit hard by rain over the weekend and continues to account for the damage. To date, 59,967 people and 218 municipalities have been affected, according to the State Civil Defense Operations Center (Codec). Of the more than 59,000 people affected, 488 are homeless and 762 displaced.

In this way, municipalities can request funds from the Union for civil defense interventions. These resources can pay for assistance to affected citizens, through the provision of mineral water, basic food baskets, meals for volunteers and work teams, and cleaning and hygiene kits.
