French police on Monday arrested a man following a knife attack on three women in the north of Paris. The assault on the women aged 19, 24 and 36 took place at around 11:30am (09:30GMT), with the attacker wielding two kitchen knives as weapons.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told reporters at a news conference that two of the three women were severely wounded but said their lives were not in danger. Nunez said the man had been apprehended by an off-duty police officer.
