Meteorology Issued a Yellow Alert for Storms That Could Hit the Entire State of Rio Grande Do Sul at the Beginning of This

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a yellow alert for storms that could hit the entire state of Rio Grande do Sul at the beginning of this week, especially on Monday (27). The yellow alert is the first level of the three warnings issued by the institute: yellow, for potential danger; orange, for danger; and red, for great danger. According to the institute, the state could be hit by rains of 20 to 30 millimeters per hour or up to 50 mm/day, intense winds (40-60 km/h), and hail.

There is a low risk of electricity cuts, damage to crops, falling tree branches and flooding. Floods Regarding the possibility of flooding, the state of Rio Grande do Sul remains, until Wednesday (29), on orange alert. Two regions received red alert.

The perimeter covers the areas of Uruguaiana, Alegrete, São Gabriel, Rio Pardo and Canoas. There is also a risk of flooding in the region of the lower Uruguai River (from São Borja to Uruguaiana), the Jacuí River (from Dona Francisca to the Delta) and Sinos (São Leopoldo), as well as the Ibirapuitã River, in Alegrete, the Santa Maria River, in Dom Pedrito and Rosário do Sul, the Ibicuí River in Manoel Viana, and the Quaraí River, in Quaraí.
