Participants dressed in white clothing and with white roses and balloons in their hands walked through the Charlois district.
Many people wore a T-shirt with a photo of the boy, Rijnmond writes. Among those present were friends, relatives and acquaintances. Some people carried banners with texts such as 'Love yes, weapons no' and 'Together against gun violence'.
The commemoration ended with a minute's silence. The relatives shared a photo of Jahfairel on social media earlier this week: The 18-year-old Rotterdam resident was shot on Tuesday evening around 10 p.m. on the Graafseweg in Nijmegen, just outside the party area. He died in hospital.
No suspect An 18-year-old fellow citizen was arrested and was a suspect for a short time, but he was released. No one else has been arrested. According to relatives, Jahfairel died due to senseless violence. Mayor Bruls of Nijmegen previously contradicted this.
