The Popular Unity (UP) party formalized this Sunday (26) its candidacy for the presidency of the Republic of Samara Martins. The announced list will also feature Raquel Bricio as a candidate for vice president. The candidacy was made official at the party's national convention, held at the Zumbi dos Palmares University, in the Bom Retiro neighborhood, in the capital of São Paulo.
Samara is a dentist at the Unified Health System (SUS), leader of the black and women's movement. She works in the Olga Benario Women's Movement, which supports the struggle of homeless people for the right to housing and especially that of poor black women. Bricio is a union port guard and one of the founders of the Olga Benario Women's Movement. In 2022, Samara was a candidate for vice-presidency of the Republic for UP on the ticket headed by Leonardo Péricles.
