At least 35 people have been killed and 30 others injured after two passenger buses collided on a highway in central Syria. The crash happened on Saturday on the Deir Az Zor–Damascus road between al-Sukhnah and Palmyra. The Ministry of Interior said one bus was carrying Internal Security Forces members while the other was transporting civilians.
Ambulances and helicopters were sent to evacuate the injured to Homs Military Hospital. The highway is known for poor safety standards after years of conflict.
