Firefighters are battling a house fire in the Wellington suburb of Brooklyn. Fire and Emergency New Zealand said the two-storey house was engulfed in flames when crews arrived on Saturday night, prompting a call for backup. Eight firetrucks and three specialist vehicles are at the scene near Laura Ave.
No injuries have been reported, and crews are still working to extinguish the blaze. reporter Penny Smith said the blaze appeared to be on the corner of Tanera Cres and Laura Ave, with the road blocked and heavy smoke.
