Ukraine diesel, gasoline prices set to rise sharply, expert warns

Diesel fuel in Ukraine could reach UAH 90 per liter and gasoline UAH 85 per liter in the coming weeks, according to Serhii Kuiun, director of the A-95 Consulting Group.

Speaking on Ukrainian Radio, Kuiun said wholesale prices have exceeded retail levels, meaning traders would operate at a loss if they sold at current prices. This indicates imminent increases. He noted that diesel at UAH 90 is clearly in sight, while gasoline could hit UAH 85 within two to three weeks, possibly sooner.

The expert ruled out a fuel shortage, predicting traders will maintain supplies, leaving price as the only concern. He attributed the rise to reduced oil deliveries to Europe due to the Middle East conflict, leading to lower production and imports of petroleum products. As of July 23, the average price of A-95 gasoline had risen by UAH 0.63 to UAH 79.03 per liter, while diesel increased by UAH 1.30 to UAH 83.00 per liter.
