Azak said that TÜYEK, as the Translation and Publication Department, has taken steps towards the publication of basic classical texts since its establishment and that they have published 404 volumes of works, including duplicate editions, to date.
Pointing out that publishing activities continue in approximately 4-5 categories, Azak noted that Mehmed Zihni Efendi is an important person raised by this land. Providing information about Zihni Efendi's life and works, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Turan Arslan explained that the author came from a noble family and spent his life reading and writing. Arslan pointed out that Zihni Efendi taught religious studies at Galatasaray High School for many years and said, "He left behind very valuable works.
He wrote 'El-Kavlü'l-Ceyyid' and most of his other works to teach Arabic better. One of the other important things he did was that Zihni Efendi took action to avoid causing any mistakes in his works. "In this sense, he is a very careful person.
Explaining that Zihni Efendi was born and raised in the Vefa district of Fatih, Arslan said, "His family settled there 200 years ago. His grave is in Küplüce Cemetery. We found his grave thanks to Hüsrev Subaşı's father, İbrahim Subaşı. he said.
Prof. Dr. Mücahit Kaçar also stated that Mehmed Zihni Efendi's real name was "Mehmed", and that his teachers later gave him the name "Zihni" because he was very intelligent, and said, "He was born on July 10, 1846, and died in his mansion in Beylerbeyi on December 17, 1913. He wrote nearly 30 works and produced works in many different fields. 'Ni'met-i İslam', the famous book of fiqh. he said.
Noting that everyone working in the field of rhetoric has crossed paths with the work "El-Kavlü'l-Ceyyid", Kaçar said: "There are four basic works that those who work on rhetoric in the Ottoman Empire definitely know. Among these, Abu Yakub es Sekkaki's 'Miftahu'l-Ulum', Hatib el-Kazvini's 'Telhisü'l-Miftah', in which he describes this work and annotates some parts of it, Teftazani's works called 'Mutavvel' and 'Muhtasaru'l-Meani', which he wrote for this work, and Seyyid Şerif Cürcani's He has 'Haşiye ale'l-Mutavvel' which he wrote to 'Mutawvel'. These 4 works determined the Ottoman rhetoric tradition.
All books written after the 16th century are either commentaries, translations, or notes made on these works. Of course, other original books have been written, but these are the rhetoric books taught in madrasas."
