TSE maintains limit of R$133 million for presidential campaign spending

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) announced this Tuesday (21) the spending limit for candidates for positions in dispute in the October elections. The resources are part of the Special Campaign Financing Fund (FEFC), which will distribute R$4.9 billion to the 30 parties that will participate in the election. Candidates for the Presidency of the Republic will be able to spend up to R$133 million, including both rounds.

Brazil will have 158.7 million voters eligible to vote in October. SP concentrates most of the country's electorate with 21.48% of voters. The spending limit for the positions of governor, senator, district, federal and state deputy was also defined.

In São Paulo, the largest electoral college, with 34 million voters, candidates for the state government will be able to spend R$26.6 million in the first round and R$13.3 million in the second. Campaign expenses involve expenses with hiring travel services, video recordings, production of rallies, among others. Checking the amounts is done through financial statements that must be submitted by candidates and parties to the Electoral Court throughout the campaign. Elections The first round will be held on October 4th, when voters will vote for federal, state and district deputies, governors, senators and the President of the Republic. The second round is scheduled for October 25th and could take place in the dispute for the positions of governor and president.
