Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to Udhayanidhi Stalin in Trisha Remark Case

Udhayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu's Leader of the Opposition and DMK leader, was granted anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court after questioning over alleged vulgar remarks about actor Trisha Krishnan. The court directed him to cooperate with the investigation. Police detained him at his Chennai residence on Tuesday, prompting DMK protests across the state.

The controversy stems from a Monday rally in Thanjavur, where crowds chanted "Trisha, Trisha" during his speech on the Cauvery water dispute, and he made a remark seen as a double entendre. An FIR was filed under charges including promoting enmity and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, following a TVK complaint. TVK also approached the National Commission for Women, calling the remarks "vulgar" and "objectifying.

DMK president MK Stalin accused Chief Minister Vijay's government of diverting attention from Cauvery failures, calling the arrest a "fascist tendency. Udhayanidhi was released after questioning in Thanjavur, per court orders.
