Turkish Minister Warns of Wildfire Risk As Strong Winds Forecast

Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı urged citizens to exercise caution to protect Turkey's forests, warning that strong winds expected along coastal areas pose a major wildfire risk. In a social media post titled Critical warning for the Green Homeland, Yumaklı highlighted that today and tomorrow mark a critical period, with severe winds forecast in Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Bursa, İzmir, and Manisa. He called on the public to strictly follow rules, avoid lighting fires near wooded areas, refrain from discarding flammable materials in dry grass, and steer clear of stubble and garden waste burning.
Yumaklı asked anyone spotting smoke or suspicious situations to immediately call the 112 emergency line, stressing that while all teams are on the ground, the greatest strength lies in citizens' vigilance to prevent fires.
