Turkey Has Regained Her Health After Surgeons Reattached a Piece of Her Skull That Had Been Stored in Her Abdomen for Eight Months Following

Iraz Yavaş, 52, from Dindarlı village in Manisa's Sarıgöl district, was admitted to Alaşehir State Hospital in October 2025 after the crash. Doctors found life-threatening bleeding in the right hemisphere of her brain and removed a section of her skull to relieve pressure caused by swelling, keeping the bone under the skin of her abdominal wall. Once her condition stabilized, the bone was retrieved and transplanted back.

"I recovered my health. I thank Doctor Ahmet Sancar Topal and the healthcare workers. May God be pleased with them.

God spared me for my children, Yavaş said. Hospital chief physician Opr. Dr. Ahmet Sancar Topal noted the operation was crucial for protecting the brain and improving the patient's quality of life, adding that the hospital performed it successfully for the first time."
