Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Damaging Several Homes and Workplaces, According to Local Reports

A fire broke out near the Metehan Border Gate in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), causing damage to homes, businesses, vehicles and animal shelters. Fire crews responding to the blaze, reported at around 3:30 p.m. local time, brought it under control and extinguished it within a short time. The fire is believed to have started in a repair workshop and spread to the surrounding area, possibly due to a faulty solar panel converter system in a garage.

According to TRNC fire department officials, one workshop, six vehicles, two chicken coops and one donum of grassland were destroyed, while one house was partially damaged. Sixty chickens and three dogs were killed. Authorities said border crossings were not affected during the incident.
