Havva Çelik Drowns in Euphrates After Falling While Taking a Photo A 21-year-old woman drowned after losing her balance and falling into the Euphrates River while trying to take a photograph in Şanlıurfa’s Birecik district. The incident occurred in the Dorucak neighborhood on the evening of Aug. 1. Havva Çelik was standing on rocks along the riverbank when she slipped and was swept away by the current.
Her family noticed what had happened and immediately called the 112 emergency line, requesting assistance from medical, gendarmerie and search-and-rescue teams. Responders dispatched to the scene recovered Çelik’s body after a search operation. Following on-site examinations, her remains were taken to a morgue for an autopsy. The gendarmerie has launched an investigation into the incident.
