The June Memorandum of Understanding Collapsed, and Hostilities Resumed, With Three More US Servicemembers Killed in July

President Donald Trump has no clear exit strategy in the five-month-old conflict with Iran, as he flip-flopped over the weekend on a potential deal. Trump posted on social media that he agreed to "hold off any attack" on Iran because "the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz and an "end to Iran's nuclear threat. By Monday, he accused Iran of being "unbelievably duplicitous" and threatened "decapitation, calling it a "last chance for them to sign a good document.
The June memorandum of understanding collapsed, and hostilities resumed, with three more US servicemembers killed in July. The strait remains largely closed, with only a handful of vessels passing daily. Trump started the conflict but lacks a plan to end it, increasing risks to US troops as the war drags on.
