CLRC Expands Hyundai Bargaining Scope to Include Industrial Safety for All Subcontract Workers

The CLRC announced the decision after a review meeting on a corrective application regarding the announcement of bargaining demands by Hyundai Motor. The commission held four sessions starting March 10 before reaching its conclusion. While the initial ruling had limited the bargaining agenda to the provision of medical rooms and rest areas, the CLRC expanded the scope, saying Hyundai has an obligation to discuss the entire industrial safety agenda with the other subcontract unions. The commission also addressed Hyundai's argument that its control over the workers was weak because they work in physically separated spaces, noting that the automaker's claim was insufficient to exclude them from safety negotiations.
