Unionized General Motors Workers in Ontario Are Expected to Wrap Up Voting Sunday on a New Tentative Agreement Reached With the Automaker

Unifor and GM agreed on tentative labour contracts for more than 4,600 autoworkers on Aug. 22, and union members have been casting ballots over the weekend on whether to ratify the deals. Unifor National President Lana Payne previously said the agreements deliver strong wage and benefit increases for workers at GM's Oshawa assembly plant, the CAMI facility in Ingersoll, as well as operations in St. Catharines and Woodstock. Talks between the union and automaker started earlier this month after Unifor reached a separate agreement with Ford.

That deal included three per cent annual pay increases and a renewal of a no-closure agreement. The vote is set to wrap up Sunday, with results expected to determine whether the tentative contracts are ratified.
