The Boldika Will First Be Used on the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST Stars & Steel Edition

Brake systems giant Brembo has unveiled its largest and most powerful brake caliper to date, designed to meet the needs of heavy electric vehicles. The Italian manufacturer's new engineering marvel, named Boldika, will debut not on a super sports car like a Ferrari or Porsche, but on a massive electric pickup truck weighing around 4 tons. The Boldika will first be used on the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST Stars & Steel Edition.

This formidable vehicle, with over 700 horsepower and capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds, requires top-tier braking performance to be brought to a safe stop safely. Heavy battery packs in electric vehicles significantly increase the total weight of the vehicle, placing greater demands on the braking system. Brembo developed the Boldika to produce over 8,500 Nm of braking torque, the highest level the brand has ever achieved.

The caliper features a three-piece hybrid structure consisting of a six-piston fixed caliper, two aluminum body parts, and a cast iron central bridge connecting them. This hybrid design, a first for Brembo, maintains the robustness required for high braking performance while keeping weight under control. Available in red with a muscular design in its first application, the caliper is compact enough to fit wheels of 20 inches and larger.

The Boldika also incorporates Enesys technology, which quickly and precisely retracts the brake pads to their starting position the moment the driver lifts their foot off the brake pedal. This reduces unnecessary contact and residual friction between the pads and disc when not braking, preventing energy loss, improving range in electric vehicles, and extending pad life. High-performance brake calipers have long been associated with super sports cars.

However, new-generation electric SU Vs and pickups, which easily exceed 2.5 tons, have brought the need for powerful braking systems to this segment. Brembo's new Boldika caliper may become more common in both electric and internal combustion large SU Vs and pickups in the coming period.
