Murat Tunç (33), who had kidney problems for a decade, began dialysis two years ago after his kidneys failed.
His mother volunteered to donate a kidney, but checks at Fırat University Hospital's Organ Transplant Center found her weight unsuitable for the transplant. Weighing 103 kilograms, Tunç underwent obesity surgery. After the operation, she lost 32 kilograms with great determination, reaching 71 kilograms.
Having met the requirements for the transplant, Fatma Tunç went under the knife a second time to give her kidney to her son. Following the successful operation, Murat Tunç said, "What my mother did is a huge sacrifice. They say 'Heaven lies under the feet of mothers.
