🇺🇸 United StatesMilo Yiannopoulos Deported to UK After ICE Arrest in New Orleans
Yiannopoulos, 41, was arrested Thursday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. "On August 28, ICE deported Milo Yiannopoulos, an illegal alien from the United Kingdom, back to his home country, a DHS spokesperson said in a statement. "Yiannopoulos was issued a final order of removal by an Immigration Judge on July 22, after failing to show up for his immigration hearing.
Far-right blogger Laura Loomer, an influential outside adviser to the Trump administration who had sparred with Yiannopoulos in the past, told The Washington Post she was "100 percent" the reason the activist had been detained. "Who else reported that Milo was an illegal alien?" she said. On social media, Loomer said she reported Yiannopoulos after he allegedly made threatening posts about her, including one from March featuring her photo and the caption "target practice.
"I'm simply one of many people who was threatened with violence by Milo when he was living in America as an illegal alien, Loomer wrote on X. "Milo's own behavior is what led to him being deported when he overstayed his visa. Yiannopoulos, who rose to prominence as a campus speaker and editor at Breitbart during the first Trump era, had repeatedly demanded aggressive immigration enforcement. "California needs ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances, gas stations, strip malls, intersections and government buildings, with on the spot deportation for anyone who can't prove they are in the US legally, he wrote on X in June.
Yiannopoulos was reportedly set to publish a new book, Ex Gay, under an imprint from former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson. He lost a previous book deal in 2017 after remarks resurfaced in which he said relationships could be consensual between a 13-year-old boy and an adult. He resigned from Breitbart following the scandal but remained active in right-wing circles, helping manage the 2024 presidential campaign of rapper Ye, formerly Kanye West.
Yiannopoulos claims he invited white supremacist Nick Fuentes to an infamous 2022 dinner at Mar-a-Lago with Donald Trump and Ye, and also worked as an unpaid intern for former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. The Independent was not immediately able to reach Yiannopoulos for comment.
Loomer is a far-right commenter who claimed credit for reporting Yiannopoulos to ICE. Far-right commenter Laura Loomer claimed credit for reporting the far-right personality to ICE.
