Berlin's Long Night of Museums Turns to Crime

A single ticket grants access to 75 different locations, including the well-known museums on Museum Island as well as many smaller houses across the city. Most venues are open from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. This year's focus is on criminal cases, ranging from "Cain's fratricide to cybercrime, from murder plots in Medici-era Florence to the black market of the postwar years, as organizers announced. The organizers advise visitors not to plan more than four or five museums in one night.

"Berlin is big, and the distances between museums are sometimes long. Take your time for encounters and new impressions, and leave room for spontaneous decisions, they recommend. The program also includes swing dancing and karaoke.

The website offers suggested routes, for example on 1920s Berlin, queer history, or outstanding female artists. Visitors can also get a personalized suggestion from the Museo-Mat. Tickets cost 23 euros, or 17 euros at the reduced rate.

Children up to age 12 get in free. The ticket also covers use of shuttle buses. Last year, the Long Night of Museums was held under the motto of love.
