Two Chilean Nationals Arrested After Robbing Tokyo Watch Store in Broad Daylight

On August 21, Chilean nationals Pinya Guzman and Mansano Quesada landed in Japan on a flight from Sydney. The next day, one of them created an account for an unmanned electric scooter rental network, and on August 23, rented a scooter near Tokyo's Nakano Station, returning it just five minutes later, according to the system's records. The two men then went to Nakano Broadway, a shopping center a short walk away, known for its eclectic indoor mall and selection of subculture and specialty shops.

There, they robbed a store selling luxury wristwatches, a popular destination for foreign tourists. After the robbery, they fled halfway across the country before being arrested. Even with the weak yen making Japan travel more affordable than it has been in decades, the long flight and tight scheduling often mean visitors may not return soon, so many try to pack in as much as possible. However, authorities strongly advise against following the itinerary of these two men, who landed in Japan, committed a robbery in daylight, attempted to escape, and were quickly caught.
