Iranian sources said talks mediated by Oman on the safety of transits through the Strait of Hormuz have not yet reached a final agreement. Mohsen Rezaei, an official from Iran's Defense Council, denied claims that an assassination plot was being planned against Barron Trump, the youngest son of the U.S. president.

In a statement to Lebanon-based Al-Manar television, Rezaei said the allegations do not reflect reality. The U.S. Secret Service had previously said it was aware of videos aired on Iranian state television targeting Barron Trump. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Trump said Iran's economy is on the brink of collapse and struggling with hyperinflation. After a tanker was struck in the Strait of Hormuz, disruptions in maritime trade were reported, while oil prices declined.
