Colleagues From Valente Fireworks Wait Outside Facility for Coffin of Founder Who Died Saving Couple

Colleagues from Valente Fireworks, the fireworks company founded by Valente, were waiting outside the facility for the coffin. To honor his memory and his great passion, smoke flares and fireworks were set off, turning the moment of grief into a tribute of light. The tragedy unfolded around 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday morning. A couple in difficulty near a pier had prompted Valente and a colleague to dive immediately into the sea. With extreme courage, the 62-year-old managed to bring the woman to safety, pulling her to shore; then, exhausted by the effort, he dove back in to recover the man, 66-year-old Luigi Fasano.

In those frantic moments, Valente was struck by a probable heart attack that left him no chance. Despite the timely intervention of lifeguards from nearby beaches and some bathers who mobilized to provide aid, there was nothing that could be done for Fasano either.
