Maldini: Cagliari Came Looking for Me Right Away

Daniel Maldini has said he feels at home at Cagliari less than a month after joining, describing the Sardinian club as "the best place at the right time" as he looks to help the team secure Serie A survival. The attacking midfielder arrives after spells with Atalanta and Lazio, where the goal was European qualification, but in Sardinia the focus is on staying in the top flight — a challenge he knows well from his time at Spezia, Empoli and Monza. "I really appreciated that Cagliari came looking for me right away, Maldini said.
"I know the fans here give a lot of warmth. I like the environment, the group is fantastic, I've been here less than a month but it feels like I've been here forever. He hopes to find the consistency that sometimes eluded him, and said he has spoken with his father about the move.
"He gave me some advice, Maldini added. Reflecting on his Monza spell, where he produced some of his best form, he said: "That was a place that made me feel important — there was a lot of trust in me and that responsibility clearly did me good. On his role under coach Fabio Pisacane, Maldini said: There's no problem with the position — I play where the manager wants me.
