U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on Mexico to take decisive action against illegal immigration, fentanyl trafficking, and drug cartels during a meeting in Washington with Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco Alvarez, the U.S. State Department said. In a written statement, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigot said Rubio met with Velasco Alvarez in Washington. Rubio urged Mexico to take firm steps to end illegal immigration, stop the flow of fentanyl and other illicit drugs into the United States, dismantle foreign terrorist organizations and cartels, and disarm these groups, according to the statement.
