Ukraine Secures $10.5M to Help Frontline Farmers Store Grain

The funds will allow small and medium-sized producers to buy necessary equipment and partially address storage problems, especially given export difficulties. Ukraine and the World Bank are also finalizing talks on an additional $25 million to expand this support. Shmyhal said the government continues negotiations with international financial institutions and donors to increase targeted assistance for farmers suffering losses from Russian attacks in the Black Sea region.

The Agriculture Ministry noted that export restrictions could leave a potential storage deficit of 7–11 million tonnes. Confirmed financing includes €700,000 from the European Union, €1 million from the FAO, $6.5 million from the Buffett Fund/Mercy Corps, $1 million from the UN World Food Programme, and $1 million from the Red Cross.
