This Monday (27), the Novo Party launched the former governor of Minas Gerais Romeu Zema as a candidate for president of the Republic. The party's national convention was held in Brasília. Novo has not yet defined who will make up the ticket as a candidate for vice president.
The convention was attended by the party's national president, Eduardo Ribeiro, and senator Eduardo Girão, a member of Novo since February 2023. Graduated in business administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), Romeu Zema is a businessman. His first electoral contest was for state government in 2018, when he won. He was re-elected in 2022 and resigned from his position in March of this year to run for president of the Republic. Agência Brasil will monitor the results of the national party conventions.
