Turkey Offers Condolences to Nepal, China Over Deadly Floods

Turkey's Foreign Ministry has extended condolences to the people of Nepal and China over the loss of life caused by floods and landslides near Nepal's border with China. In a written statement, the ministry expressed deep sorrow over the casualties from the disaster that struck the border region between Nepal and China on Wednesday, offering condolences to the families of the victims and to the countries that lost citizens, particularly Nepal and China. The statement added, As of now, no information has reached us indicating that our citizens have been affected by the disaster, and the process is being closely monitored.

At least 157 people were killed in the floods in Rasuwa and its surroundings, according to preliminary assessments, with settlements and buildings damaged. Rescue efforts are ongoing in the region, where hundreds of people remain unaccounted for. The floods in Nepal also triggered a large-scale landslide in Gyirong county, part of Shigatse in China's Tibet Autonomous Region, where three people died and 268 are still missing.
