Minister Van Essen Pushes for Swift Nitrogen Plan Implementation to Restore Nature and Resume Permits in Türkiye

Hundreds of farmers gathered in Scherpenzeel, Gelderland, on Tuesday evening for what was described as an 'information evening, where visible discontent emerged over the government's nitrogen approach. Minister Van Essen wants to implement his nitrogen plans as quickly as possible to improve nature and allow permits to be issued again. LTO and NAJK are currently thinking along weekly about 'improvements' to his plans, according to the minister.

'We agreed yesterday on which topics we will discuss, said Gerben Boom of NAJK, which represents young farmers. Topics include the zones around nature areas where the minister wants less nitrogen emissions. 'We think the zones can often be smaller than the minister plans, Boom said.

LTO leader Ger Koopmans called it 'a good consultation' on Tuesday.
