US Pivot Away From Mideast May Mark End of Era: Analysis in Türkiye

The Iran conflict may mark the end of an era, as the United States increasingly seeks to shift its resources to other regions and reduce its military presence in both Asia and Europe, according to a new analysis. The attack on Iran may have been intended to permanently set back Tehran's nuclear capabilities and create more room for a gradual American withdrawal in the Middle East. So far, this strategy has not achieved its goal.

While it has not failed as spectacularly as the withdrawal from Afghanistan, it still sends an important message to the world's middle powers: the hegemonic power of the United States is declining and the cards are being reshuffled. This could also accelerate the formation of new alliance structures. In the East, an Indo-Pacific cooperation initiative led by India appears to be taking shape, which Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand could also join.
