At least eight people are reported dead. The mountainous district of Rasuwa, particularly the areas of Syapru Besi and Timure, which are home to around 50,000 people, has been hit hard. Residents living along the banks of the Bhote Koshi River have been urged to move to higher ground.

"We have reports that villages and construction projects have been washed away, district administrator Narendra Pariyar told. "There could be great loss of life or property. But I cannot say that with certainty now. Prime Minister Balendra Shah said rescue teams, along with police and the military, have been dispatched to assist with the relief effort.
