Following Warnings From People Nearby, the Driver Pulled the Vehicle Over in Front of the Hendek Küçük Sanayi Sitesi on a Side Road

Two people were taken to hospital after being affected by a chemical leak from barrels on a truck in the Hendek district of Sakarya, Turkey. The truck was carrying hydrochloric acid (tuz ruhu) from Kocaeli to Zonguldak when the leak occurred. Following warnings from people nearby, the driver pulled the vehicle over in front of the Hendek Küçük Sanayi Sitesi (Hendek Small Industrial Site) on a side road.

Upon notification, health, fire brigade, police, gendarmerie, and AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) teams were dispatched to the scene. Bedirhan Gürsel and Serkan Akdeniz, who were in the area, were affected by the chemical substance.
