He Said He Was Committed to the Principle of Ensuring the Peaceful Passage of Ships Through the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Said Hatibzade said that his country is committed to diplomacy and the principle of ensuring the peaceful passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz in order to prevent the escalation of tensions. According to the statement made by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hatibzade spoke at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers Meeting and the Southeast Asia Friendship and Cooperation Treaty meeting. Stating that the Tehran administration remains committed to diplomacy in order to prevent the escalation of tension, Hatibzade stated that his country is committed to real diplomacy, fair dialogue and the principle of ensuring the peaceful passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, but under no circumstances will it allow the USA to dominate the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. Stating that Iran will not compromise on its national security, Hatibzade stated that they have the right to self-defense in accordance with the UN Charter and that his country will use its right to take defensive measures within the framework of international law against the source of threats against it.
