🇹🇷 TürkiyeAdditional Teams and Equipment Needed Will Be Determined Based on the Number of Patients or Injured and the Nature of the Incident

Turkey's Health Ministry has renewed the emergency response flowcharts used by ambulance and emergency care technicians and emergency medical technicians in pre-hospital emergency medical aid and care. The regulation, published in the Official Gazette, reorganizes the "Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Aid and Care Flowcharts. The flowcharts are divided into three main sections: "Adult Algorithms, "Birth and Newborn Algorithms, and "Child Algorithms, containing a total of 78 subcategories.
The "Field Management" heading has been renamed "Scene Management. Under the new rules, emergency health teams will first contact the Health Command Control Center to obtain information about the scene and ensure coordination. Additional teams and equipment needed will be determined based on the number of patients or injured and the nature of the incident.
The regulation also details medical aid methods for agitated patients, diabetic emergencies, and allergic reactions. The "BEFAST" screening method for rapid recognition of acute stroke symptoms has been added to the algorithms. Interventions for snake and scorpion bites, tick attachment, and bee stings are grouped under the "Bites and Stings" heading.
Crush Syndrome, which can occur when muscle tissue is compressed for a long time in events such as earthquakes, traffic, and work accidents, is now a separate heading in the new flowcharts. It states that Crush Syndrome should be evaluated in injuries involving being trapped under debris, compression, or pressure for more than half an hour." The "Start Triage" method for rapid classification of many injured in disasters and mass casualties has also been added. Emergency health teams are asked to start triage with the nearest patient and keep triage time under one minute per patient.
The "Child Algorithms" section includes the "Jump Start Triage" method for rapid classification of children under 8 in disasters and mass injuries. In the "Birth and Newborn Algorithms" section, assessment and intervention steps for excessive and dangerous postpartum bleeding have been determined. The section also includes Management of Acute Hypertension in Pregnancy. Physicians at the Health Command Control Center and Call Center will support ambulance teams according to the algorithms when needed.
