Trump: Navy Clears All Hormuz Strait Mines

The strait, a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman, is a critical chokepoint through which roughly one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes under normal circumstances. The announcement comes about a month after French President Emmanuel Macron said that, in coordination with other partners, a cooperation agreement had been reached with Oman to clear mines in the strait, aiming to ensure "free and unrestricted passage through the waterway.
