🇹🇷 TürkiyeTürkiye Opens Dorm Applications for 2026-2027 Academic Year

Turkey's Youth and Sports Ministry has opened applications for its student dormitories for the 2026-2027 academic year, Minister Osman Aşkın Bak announced on Monday. In a statement on his social media account, Bak said applications are now open for students enrolling for the first time in universities' formal education programs, as well as for continuing students. Applicants can submit their requests through the e-Devlet (e-Government) portal until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 29. During the application process, students will be asked to declare their social and economic circumstances.
Once the application period closes, these declarations will be reviewed in coordination with 12 different public institutions and organizations before placements are finalized. Placement decisions will be based on criteria including family income, social situation, and academic achievement. The institutions involved in reviewing applications include the Council of Higher Education, the Student Selection and Placement Center, the General Directorate of Sports Services, the Ministry of Family and Social Services, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of National Education, the Revenue Administration, the Social Security Institution, the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities.
The ministry did not specify how many dormitory beds are available for the upcoming academic year. The announcement comes as students across Turkey prepare for the new academic term, with dormitory capacity a recurring concern in major university cities.
