An oil tanker was struck by an unknown object off the coast of Oman, leaving the vessel inoperable, according to British maritime authorities. The crew is reported safe, with no environmental damage or leaks reported. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a written statement that an unknown object hit the engine room of an oil tanker approximately 9 nautical miles off the Shisa region in northeastern Oman.

The impact caused damage to the engine room, rendering the ship unusable. The statement added that the crew is safe and that no pollution or spillage has been reported.
