Three suburbs west of Bordeaux are being evacuated as a wildfire continues to spread in the Gironde district, affecting the local airport. Around 70,000 residents received evacuation orders, reports Le Figaro. One suburb houses a former gunpowder factory now producing rocket and missile fuel, classified as a high-risk area.
The blaze threatens several prestigious wine regions. The French government held an emergency meeting Friday evening and has deployed the military to assist firefighters. A total of 32 wildfires are currently active across the country.
