The new generation solar-powered awning, developed in Germany, both serves as a shade and produces electricity. It is also emphasized that the rollable structure system is long-lasting. See Full Size Germany-based startup Solar Markise introduced its photovoltaic awning solution that combines sun protection and electricity generation in a single product.
Developed for residential and commercial use, the system is offered with two different power options and aims to directly consume the electricity it produces. The SolarMarkise series developed by the company consists of two versions: M and L. M model has 1.35 kW and L model has 1.8 kW installed power.
The main difference between the two models is in size and weight. SolarMarkise M measures 3.51 x 3 meters and weighs 77 kilograms. The larger SolarMarkise L measures 4.35 x 3 meters and weighs 100 kilograms.
Both models use a rollable solar panel fabric placed on an aluminum skeleton. According to the technical information shared by Solar Markise, the awnings offer 100% UV protection and are completely waterproof. In the system, which is resistant to strong winds, each solar panel module produces 450 W power and offers 15% efficiency.
While monocrystalline solar cells are used in the products, the panels come with a 10-year product warranty. View Full Size SolarMarkise systems are registered as balcony type photovoltaic energy systems in Germany. Therefore, the power that can be transferred to the grid is limited to 800 W.
The aim of the company is to consume the electricity produced directly in homes or commercial businesses. These products can also be integrated into caravans. While the company provides the necessary inverter solutions along with the systems, the prices are slightly higher than traditional awnings.
The SolarMarkise M model is offered for sale with a price tag of 4,499 euros, and the L model is available with a price tag of 5,499 euros. According to the company, these prices are 10% to 15% higher than traditional awnings of similar quality.
