Police Said the Driver May Have Suffered a Medical Emergency While Behind the Wheel in Germany

A 56-year-old pedestrian was critically injured when she was struck by a car in Hagen, Germany, on Sunday evening. The 80-year-old driver of the vehicle was also seriously hurt in the incident, according to police. The elderly driver reportedly veered off the road for reasons still under investigation and drove onto a traffic island, where her car hit the pedestrian.

After the crash, the 80-year-old was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be freed by the fire department. She was then taken to a hospital by ambulance. The pedestrian, who suffered life-threatening injuries, was airlifted to a hospital by rescue helicopter.
