The golden triangle links three historic cities: Yazd, Shiraz and Isfahan. Yazd is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and tourists from around the world once flocked there. Now, few people are on the city's streets and hotels stand empty.
Mehdi Mirzaei, a hotel owner in the city, says the recent wars have had a major impact on foreign tourism. "And the situation is not improving. Many of our colleagues are in a desperate situation and are struggling to earn any income at all," he said.
