A small motorized aircraft overturned during an emergency landing in the Oberallgäu district of Bavaria, Germany, on Monday. The 54-year-old pilot was forced to bring the plane down on a field in Waltenhofen after the engine suddenly failed, according to police. The landing gear broke off during the touchdown, the nose of the aircraft dug into the ground, and the plane flipped over several times.
The pilot managed to free himself from the severely damaged wreckage and was taken to a hospital as a precaution, though he did not sustain any significant injuries. Members of his flying club later recovered the badly damaged aircraft from the field in individual parts. The cause of the engine failure was not immediately disclosed.
