A chain-reaction crash involving 12 vehicles on the Anadolu Motorway in northwestern Turkey left six people injured, authorities said. The accident occurred in the evening on the Hendek section of the motorway in the Istanbul direction, in Düzce province's Akçakoca district. A truck driven by E.A. (35), with license plate 06 HB 4768, rear-ended a car driven by S.K. (45), with license plate 34 KY 8320, which was traveling in the same direction, dragging it along.
After the impact, the vehicles went out of control, and 10 more vehicles traveling on the same route crashed into the wrecked vehicles. Firefighters, motorway gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. In the crash, S.K. (45), H.Ö. (31), R.M.Ö. (23), E.G. (41), E.T. (46), and truck driver E.A. (35) sustained minor injuries.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals after receiving first aid at the scene. The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on the motorway. In a separate incident, Arif Yalçı (46), the driver of a jet ski that struck the pillar of the Melenağzı Bridge in Akçakoca, lost his life, and passenger İlknur Y. was seriously injured.
