Explora Journeys prepares to launch its largest luxury cruise ship yet

  • The new cruise ship, Explora III, was handed over during a ceremony at Fincantieri's Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, Italy, this week.
  • It is the first liquefied natural gas-capable vessel in the Explora Journeys fleet, and is more spacious than the brand’s first two ships.
  • Extended by 19.2 metres, Explora III measures 268 metres and has a gross tonnage of 72,810. In comparison, the gross tonnage of the Explora I and Explora II is 63,900. The passenger capacity remains the same at 922, but there are two extra suites on board taking the total to 463, as well as enlarged public areas and a bigger wellness space.

Guests will also find three new dining concepts on the ship: The Cellar, The Chef's Table and Shore Club on 11. Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys, said: “With every new ship, we have the opportunity to listen, learn and refine, building on what our guests value most while remaining true to the vision that defines our brand.”
